DJ M.A.K is an established female disc jockey hailing from Lusaka,
Zambia, and currently based in South Africa’s creative capital, Cape Town.
She is the one of two female Resident DJs at Bob’s Bar – Long Street, Bob’s
Bar – District Six, and on Dr’s In The House on Cape Town’s prime radio
station, Good Hope FM.
M.A.K being the abbreviation to her full names, Monde Angelyn
Kawana, officially started her DJ career at the age of 25 at Bob’s Bar – Long
Street as a shy inexperienced young lady, who teamed up with the owner of
Bob’s Bar and her now DJ brothers who took time to help her level up from
amateur mixing on Virtual DJ to mixing and skilled beat matching on
Pioneer DJ Decks. After years of practice, she has blossomed into a
confident powerhouse who knows how to keep a crowd entertained. She is
an R&B and Hip-Hop lover who also enjoys playing Afro-house, but can
play any genre thrown her way.
In the beginning of 2018, she won the title of Best Female DJ Cape
Town at the Smirnof Sisters of Spin Female DJ Competition, hosted by
Stones Bar, which awarded her with both a cash prize and R100,000 worth
of Pioneer DJ equipment. And, it is from this that she has managed to book
gigs for private events, parties and weddings.
