RubyTech

Winslow Jordan also known as Rubytech is the son of the late, respected cartoonist, graphic artist and Barbadian cultural icon, Winston Jordan. He is a talented graphic artist himself, so creativity is a way of life for this Barbadian. Understanding the value of enjoying his own company from an early age, Rubytech began to draw inspiration from new technologies, the television he watched so much as a child and his observations of family and friends. Then the writing talent, along with the other skill in graphic art, gradually began to take shape.

Rubytech reemerged in 2006 as a solo artist more passionate than ever about his craft. With his religious faith keeping him firmly grounded, life’s experiences have created a wellspring of emotions and analysis to draw on, reflected in the new maturity of his writing. Rubytech’s return to the solid local hip hop scene was cemented with his capturing of the Freestyle title at the 2006 and 2007 Hip Hop Festivals and winning 3 Barbados Music Awards for his hit single “Reasons” featuring Damian Marvay at the 2008 Barbados Music Awards. Additionally, his first mixtape, “The Official Back to Business Mixtape” hosted by the Boomtribe DJ’s was released in October 2007 and has since garnered critical acclaim as a must have in your music collection.

Since the Barbados Music Awards in 2008, Rubytech has continued to develop as a Caribbean artist and has begun to find his style through “fusing” his music, which has naturally allowed him to become a more versatile artiste blending Hip Hop, Reggae, R&B and Soca. He has been hard at work in the studio using this approach to craft a body of new material, which has enabled him to distinguish himself apart from other artistes in the urban music genre. This was evident at the 2009 Barbados Music Awards where he won R&B/Hip Hop artiste of the year and was presented by XXL and KING Magazine editor Datwon Thomas, who was so impressed with Rubytech that he has scheduled an interview with XXL Magazine for the up and coming artiste.

Rubytech continues to collaborate on a myriad of studio projects for a range of noted producers and has only just begun to scratch the surface of his talent, so expect Barbados’ newest FUSION ARTISTE to continue to reach for the stars!
